Air freight
Air freight is the transportation of products by airplane. Pak Mail also ships by ground (truck and rail) and ocean.

Blanket wrap
The process of wrapping items for shipping in specialized blankets that secure the items' surfaces and prevent movement during transport. Items such as furniture and glass are routinely blanket wrapped for added security.
Break bulk
Break bulk cargo is defined as cargo packed in small units that can be easily seperated. It is typical of ocean cargo and is generally stacked on wooden pallets so that it is easily placed and removed from a ship's hold.

Cargo
The specific freight carried by a ship, aircraft, truck or other transport vehicle.
Certified packing experts
All Pak Mail employees participate in extensive training (2 weeks prior to opening), 3 days of on-site training, and continuing education to ensure they are well equiped to handle your packing and shipping challenges.
Corporate relocation
A business move or expansion that involves packing and relocation of items from one place to another.
Crate
Any container, normally constructed of wood , that is used specifically for shipping or storing items.
Crating
The process of custom packing items for shipping. Crating may include use of standard crates or the construction of custom containers from wood, cardboard or plastic.

Door-to-port
This is a shipping service that transports items from the shipper's designated location directly to the destination
Door-to-door
This shipping method provides service from the customer's ( shipper's) residence, warehouse, or office, or chosen location directly to the actual destination.
Domestic shipping
Domestic shipping is any shipping to or from the 48 contiguous states ( excluding Alaska and Hawaii). Pak Mail Ships both domestically and internationally.
Drop ship
To ship directly to the customer on behalf of another. Pak Mail often drop ships items for its clients to customers from centralized warehouses.
Dunnage
Dunnage is any and all loose packaging material (peanuts, loose fill) that is utilized to secure freight, fill empty space, or reduce shifting of items during transport.

Estate
An estate is defined as all items that are contained within a singular household, residence, or dwelling.
 
F
Fragile
Any item that is easily breakable or damaged, such as glass, artwork, ceramics, or anything made of a fragile material. These must be specially packed to avoid damage during transport.
Freight forwarding
The process of moving freight safely and securely from one destination to another. This may include custom crating and packing, scheduling and tracking, point-to-point service, online booking, detailed reports, and preparation of manifests.
Full truck load
This is a cargo shipment that fills either the size or weight capacity of its container.

Hazardous materials
This includes explosives, compressed gases, flammable liquids and solids, oxidizers and organic peroxides, poisonous materials, radioactive materials, corrosives, and infectious materials.
Household items
These include any and all items, including clothing, appliances, electronics, antiques, and other materials that are found within a residence, dwelling, or estate.

International shipping
International shipping involves any items shipped outside the 48 contiguous states to any countries around the world. Pak Mail ships both domestically and internationally.

Large-item crating
Large items include oversized individual items, such as armoires and grandfather clocks, as well as artwork, antiques, equipment, and high-tech electronics.
Less-than-container (LCL)
An LCL shipment is a cargo shipment that is less than the capacity of its container. This is usually combined with cargo of another shipper to fill out the load.
Logistics
The process by which resources are allocated to required areas. Pak Mail provides synchronized sourcing, packing, specialty shipping, warehousing, and transportation services for domestic and international freight as your preferred logistics provider.
Loose-fill
Any or all materials (such as packing peanuts) used to secure items, fill a void, or protect good from damage while in transit.
LTL
Less than truckload or motor freight is a shipment that travels with other cargo from more than one shipper. As its name implies, it quite literally does not fill a complete load and is normally placed in crates or palletized for shipping on a single mode of transport (truck).

Motor freight
Motor freight is defined as freight transport by road (truck), rail, or any motor motor freight vehicle.

Next day shipping
Next day (also known as air or expedited shipping) is the process of cargo shipping transport for delivery the very next day.

Ocean freight
Ocean freight Involves transportation by sea or ocean vessel. This type of ocean freight shipping normally takes longer, but it can be substantially lower in cost, when compared with air or road.

Packing
The process of preparing items for safe shipping. Packing may include blanket wrapping, stretch wrapping, use of peanuts, popcorn, or other materials to ensure items travel safely.
Pallet
A pallet is a portable (normally wooden) constructed platform or raised surface that is used to store and transport goods.
Preferred carrier network
Pak Mail's preferred carrier network includes companies such as UPS, FedEx, Preferred carrier DHL, Roadway, and ABF (and others) that have proven to offer reliable and network cost effective service.

Road and rail freight
The act of transporting freight by truck or train. Through established relationships with major domestic and international road and rail carriers, Pak Mail's Worldwide Logistics Division provides efficient, competitive, and reliable motor freight with sole-source responsibility. We manage local, regional, interregional, and long-haul oversized, LTL, and full-truckload shipments with effectiveness and efficiency.

Same day
Same-day shipping involves the pick up and delivery of goods during the same business day.
Senior move
The act of moving a senior citizen's belongings from their home into an adult or assisted living facility.
Short-term storage
Pak Mail offers short-term storage (generally 60 days or less) for customers
Student move
The act of moving a student's belongings to or from a college, university, or trade school.
Supply chain
The supply chain is the network of businesses (such as retailers, transporters, and suppliers) that participate in the sale and mass production of a product.

A tariff, also known as a tax, is normally reserved for an item being shipped
Transportation brokerage
The sourcing and coordination of all transportation services involved in international shipping, including location of qualified carriers, management of documentation for all customs clearances, and serving as a single point of contact for importing/exporting and drop-ship options from international destinations.
Tracking
A method by which freight or other shipped items may be located in transit. Pak Mail tracks items shipped by FedEx, UPS, Roadway, and ABF.
Two-day shipping
This type of shipping involves transportation of goods (normally by air) for delivery within two business days.

White glove services
Pak Mail's white glove service includes critical services for specialized freight. Services may include courtesy pick up, same day crating and packing, and delivery at the destination. This services also may include door-to-door or door-to-dock delivery, and debris removal by certified Pak Mail experts.
Written confirmation
A written confirmation is a signed, official "receipt" that proves when and where a particular item was shipped and/or received.
