5 Uses for Packing Peanuts

Packing peanuts are ideal for making sure the contents of your package arrive in one piece. But if you're like us and have just received a package full of these, you probably feel like there could be some use for packing peanuts other than throwing them in the trash.

Here are a few alternate uses that will make you want to keep a stash on hand, or you can bring them to a Pak Mail location for recycling.

Hold Nails in Place

Tired of whacking your fingers when hammering a nail? Place a nail through a packing peanut and then start the nail. Once the nail is most of the way into the wall, tear away the peanut and finish the nail.

Paint Your Nails

The last we heard, painting your feet was not the point of nail polish. Use packing peanuts to separate your toes and easily paint your nails.

Make an Air Freshener

Keep your house smelling fresh and clean. Place packing peanuts in a mason jar and add perfume (do not use an aerosol spray). The peanuts will retain the smell and last for days.

Make a Pot Lighter

Tired of dragging heavy pots in and out when frost is forecasted? Most plants don’t need all of the soil in a larger pot. Adding unnecessary soil increases the weight of the pot (not to mention the expense). By placing a layer of packing peanuts at the bottom of the pot, the weight is reduced and you save on potting soil.

Prank Your Co-worker

April is around the corner, so start collecting packing peanuts now for this epic prank. The picture explains it all. You'll need plastic wrap, tape, and a whole bunch of packing peanuts. When the prank is over, share this blog with your co-workers so you can put the peanuts to use again.
